Operations Excellence Engineer, Data Centre Operations
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Firmus Technologies is seeking a detail-oriented and outcome-driven Operations Excellence Engineer to strengthen operational discipline and service delivery at our Singapore data centre hub. This critical role will champion consistency, accountability, and high-performance standards, working in close partnership with the Head of Global Operations, GOC Team Lead, and the broader operations leadership team.
Functioning as the operational bridge between strategic direction and day-to-day execution, this role translates high-level objectives into actionable frameworks. The Operations Excellence Engineer ensures robust processes, well-defined standards, and operational rigour are implemented and sustained across all layers.
The ideal candidate is a pragmatic executor who is adept at designing operational processes and guiding others in their adoption. You will be the driving force behind turning strategic plans into consistent practice, embedding the systems and behaviours required for a high-performing site operations team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the development and implementation of operational processes, performance metrics, and improvement plans across the Singapore Global Operations Center (GOC).
- Serve as the critical link between strategic planning and ground-level execution, collaborating closely with both the Head of Global Operations and the GOC Team Lead.
- Design, document, and enforce SOPs, preventative maintenance schedules, and escalation procedures, incorporating automation to streamline operations, reduce repetitive manual tasks, and improve service delivery.
- Introduce structure and documentation discipline across all GOC functions to ensure consistent execution and alignment.
- Support the development and implementation of SLAs, internal workflows, and customer service response frameworks.
- Leveraging data to identify operational inefficiencies or process gaps, leading corrective actions and engaging global teams as needed.
- Coach and support GOC personnel and Field Service Technicians (FSTs) in process adherence, documentation standards, and performance accountability.
- Ensure operational readiness of Singapore sites for audits, customer visits, and onboarding sessions.
- Act as a quality gatekeeper driving operational accountability, setting performance expectations, and ensuring standards are met.
- Promote cross-training and knowledge sharing to reduce key-person risk and ensure operational continuity.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- 10+ years’ experience in data centre operations, infrastructure environments, or technical service delivery.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English, as it is the primary working language used for internal communication and documentation.
- Proficiency in written and spoken Chinese is required to liaise with Mandarin-speaking clients and stakeholders, as part of the role involves handling communications in Mandarin.
- Proven experience contributing to automation initiatives and data-driven operations.
- Demonstrated success in building structure, elevating performance standards, and maturing operational processes.
- Strong expertise in operational documentation, preventative maintenance planning, and SLA management.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence across all levels of the organisation.
- Proven ability to drive accountability while fostering a supportive and performance-driven team culture.
- Experience working in high-availability, mission-critical, or fast-scaling operational environments is highly desirable.
