Senior Operations Manager (Singapore)
ROLE SUMMARY
Firmus Technologies is seeking a Senior Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations and strategic planning of the company’s Singapore data centres. This role is critical in ensuring the highest levels of system availability, performance, and security across all infrastructure operations. It requires a strong combination of technical expertise, leadership capability, and strategic thinking.
This is a hands-on position that will serve as the primary interface with infrastructure deployment managers and the compute DevOps delivery team. Longer-term responsibilities include building and maintaining relationships with equipment suppliers across Firmus businesses, developing and executing procurement strategies, and driving initiatives to ensure the successful movement of goods and resources in support of project and company objectives.
The role will report to the COO, with the potential to transition to a Head of Region or Director of Operations (or equivalent) in the future. You will also collaborate closely with our global deployment and engineering teams, who will provide product requirements, technical direction, and ongoing specialist support to ensure operational excellence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safety & Quality: Adhere to all safety, environmental, and quality procedures to maintain a safe and inclusive workplace.
- Operational Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of data centre services, including hardware, software, networking, and environmental controls.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement long term strategies for data centre upgrades and optimisation.
- Team Leadership: Manage and develop a team of data centre professionals, ensuring continuous skill development and effective performance management.
- Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: Ensure robust disaster recovery plans are in place, and regularly tested for our data centre equipment.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage the budget for data centre operations, including internal and external labour costs.
- Compliance and Security: Ensure all data centre operations comply with relevant laws, regulations and industry standards. Oversee the implementation and maintenance of security protocols.
- Performance Metrics: Develop and track key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of data centre operations.
- Technology Trends: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and efficiency in data centre operations.
- Stakeholder Communication: Act as primary point of contact for all data centre operations, providing regular updates to senior management and stakeholders.
- This role may require availability outside of standard working hours, including nights and weekends, to address urgent issues or to perform scheduled maintenance.
- Periodic travel across Singapore will be required for vendor meetings, site visits, or professional development opportunities.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in data centre management or related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong understanding of data centre infrastructure and technologies, including servers, storage, networking, and security.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and capacity for strategic thinking.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
