Role Summary
The Project Manager for the Construction & Deployment is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of infrastructure deployments across Australia, with positions based in Launceston, Tasmania (TAS), and accountability for programme delivery, financial performance, safety, quality, and stakeholder management.
This is a hands-on individual contributor role requiring deep expertise in MEP standards and data centre–grade infrastructure delivery. The Project Manager acts as the primary interface between Firmus and all contractors, suppliers, building owners, and clients, while serving as a key escalation point for complex technical, commercial, and programme risks.
Working closely with the Operations Manager, Australia and the Firmus global engineering team, the role ensures HyperCube deployments are executed safely, compliantly, on schedule, and within budget, while meeting Firmus’ quality and operational standards.
As Firmus continues its global expansion, this role may also provide advisory or delivery support to deployments in other regions as local capabilities are established.
Key Responsibilities
Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Lead and enforce Firmus’ safety, environmental, and quality standards across all deployment sites.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, codes of practice, and statutory requirements.
- Oversee QA/QC processes, audits, documentation, and corrective actions.
- Partner with compliance and HSE stakeholders to drive continuous improvement.
Program & Delivery Management
- Own the end-to-end delivery of HyperCube MEP installations across multiple sites in TAS.
- Develop and manage integrated project schedules, milestones, dependencies, and risks.
- Chair contractor, site, and coordination meetings to drive accountability and progress.
- Oversee commissioning readiness, handover, and project close-out.
Financial & Commercial Management
- Full accountability for project budgets, forecasting, and cost control.
- Provide monthly financial updates, variance analysis, and reporting to Firmus leadership.
- Ensure contracts, variations, and procurement activities are accurately documented and aligned with Firmus business objectives.
- Identify and mitigate commercial and cost risks proactively.
Stakeholder & Contractor Management
- Act as the primary interface with MEP contractors, security, networking vendors, and equipment suppliers.
- Coordinate with clients, landlords, and building owners to ensure successful project delivery.
- Manage contractor performance, resolve issues, and drive adherence to delivery standards.
Technical & Engineering Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with the Firmus global engineering team to ensure design intent and platform standards are met.
- Provide site feedback to inform design improvements and deployment optimisation.
- Apply strong MEP and data centre operational knowledge to resolve complex site challenges.
Skills & Experience
- Formal qualifications in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent post-trade training.
- Health, Safety, and/or Quality Assurance certification.
- 7–10+ years of MEP Project Management or Site Management experience in industrial construction or data centre environments.
- Strong working knowledge of Australian MEP regulations, codes, and approval processes.
- Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project), financial reporting, and cost control.
- Trade background in MEP highly desirable.
- Strong preference for data centre or mission-critical infrastructure experience.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and project delivery skills.
